Hillyfield is in Milford on Sea at the bottom of Barnes lane, a short walk from the village and just on the edge of the New Forest.  Hillyfield Rest Home offers respite and residential care. It may be that you are in need of some convalescence following a period of illness or you loved ones need a short break or you may be looking for a permanent resident in a place where you are cared for 24 hours a day and needn’t worry about cooking, cleaning or doing the laundry!

Our Care

“I came over from the States to visit my mother, with some trepidation – my experience of similar facilities were that they were institutional and rather smelly! Hillyfield, on the other hand, is amazing! The staff are wonderfully compassionate, welcoming and helpful. It truly feels like a home. My visits were never viewed as intrusions and my mother, though wishing she could be in her own home, acknowledges the loving and tender care she is receiving.”

Residential care

Hillyfield provides a safe, warm and friendly environment with support for daily tasks such as washing, cleaning and laundry for those who require full time care. At Hillyfield, we work to create a welcoming atmosphere in which residents enjoy activities, go on outings in our own minibus and make friends with other residents. However, we recognise that residents have very individual requirements and we can provide a range of care services to help meet these needs. Please feel free to call or pop in to Hillyfield to have a chat with our Manager

Respite & Day Care

We also offer respite care for older people who need extra support following an operation or illness, or while their regular carer takes a well-earned break. We also provide convalescent care, to help people who need to recuperate after a hospital stay and to support them to be well enough to go back home.

Review Score

Our mother spent some weeks in Hillyfield for respite care. The management has been incredibly helpful and approachable. Every effort was made to help Mum settle in and to make sure her physical, medical and emotional needs were met. She was always consulted for her preferences. All staff are friendly and kind and, in a short time, developed positive relationships with her. The home has a lovely caring atmosphere and homelike feel. It is a pleasure to spend time there....

As a family, we will always be grateful for the wonderful care and kindness my mother received during her time at Hillyfield. Having already contacted and/or visited several other care homes in the area, I knew instantly that Hillyfield was the right choice for my mother. We always found the staff to be cheerful, respectful, responsive and refreshingly candid. If you are searching for a small, independent, unpretentious, care home - where the resources go into caring - you will not find better.

Hillyfield has been the answer to all our prayers. To have peace of mind that Mum is being taken care of, is a huge relief for us. The management and care staff go beyond what is required, to ensure that your Mum is settled into a new environment as it is a difficult time for her to come to terms of not being in her own home and equally a difficult time for us to have made the decision for her to have 24 hour care and care staff have been extraordinary in helping us adjust...
